About Abid Gillani

“Dairay” a word from Urdu language means “Circles” – which I believe signifies the state of our nation. I feel that we have been going round and round in circles for decades now without a sense of real direction. These circles become even more vicious for the common man who is engulfed by his/ her survival efforts and has no time to think – let alone act – how these circles are being orchestrated and how s/he can get out of these.

I am blessed that in the past 25 years, I have been part of Pakistan’s major political and social efforts one way or the other. I have worked closely with many of the top leaders of our country and can understand the DNA of our political and social elite. I have witnessed religion being used as a tool for personal glory and politics being considered as a mode to ensure the status quo. I have seen conspiracies being hatched and peoples’ rights being usurped in the dark. I have shared the despair and anger among the underserved people of my country and have worked with honest and tireless friends during the time of earthquake and floods in Pakistan.

I also cherish my interaction with Pakistanis around the world looking forward to their motherland become sovereign and prosperous and with others wondering why a land possessing everything imaginable on earth is lagging so far behind.  I believe in the bright future for Pakistan and in the fact that this future is in no one else’s hands – it is in our hands.

Isn’t it the time for me, for you, for all of us to raise our voice, start spreading the truth and play our part as “WE” – only “WE” – shall be held responsible for any eventualities, may those be good or bad? I am an optimist and believe that collective conscience once brought to the fore can move mountains. Only our collective wisdom, collective voice and collective effort can bring about a change; no leader will emerge to help us by itself unless we make ourselves capable and eligible for this change.

I’ll keep sharing my thoughts – from the bottom of my heart – with you and hope that you’ll join in this struggle, at whatever level, in whichever way you can. Together, we can break these vicious circles (dairay)!

Enjoy reading and do share your thoughts with me at abid.gillani@gmail.com.

  1. Hello Sir
    Are you Abid Gillani yourself?
    Is this your own blog?

  2. Yes I am Abid Gillani and this is my own blog.

  3. What you say has extensive merit and as an American I can only hope the the people of your country remove themselves from following Dejal (the evil one) and follow their hearts (Pbuh) Muhammad. I have this hope, because this is the only way to the truth.

Muslims majahadin have hyjacked the religion of Muhammad and taken it to an evil place, a place where there is no humanity, there is no feeling to murder children.

Let you take back this great religion from the Book of Mussa and go forth as it was profitized.

  4. Dear Abid Gilani bhai!
Congrats on your blog. Important for Pakistans survival that good men and women guide Pakistan through this difficult period. Hard work, honesty and justice can do it. Peace and blessings,
    Naveed

DO YOU KNOW WHY THE WORLD
    LAUGHS AND MUSLIMS SUFFER?

BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREE EXPRESSION AWARD WINNER

TORONTO: Not surprising and shocking because it is very common but really very shameful for all Muslims. Yes, a picture showing a worker of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, prostrating before a large photo of PPP Chairman and ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan late Benazir Bhutto in Faisalabad.
Why criticize the Hindus and other idol worshippers? At least they are teaching, preaching and practicing what they feel as right. The Muslims can only impress and influence them with good character and real practice. Criticism is not the right way and solution. This is what Quran and Islam teaches us. Read Quran to understand this.
Unfortunately, worship of leaders, chiefs, Pirs, Faqirs, Sayin, Sardars, Chaudharies—dead or alive— is a very common practice and scene in Pakistan, the Muslim World and the Muslim community. We are proving really worse than all others.
There is a vast difference between respect and worship. Ideals are respected whereas The Almighty and idols are worshipped. Idol worshippers are doing their job but what are we doing? Are we really obeying and worshipping The Almighty? NO. Most of us are creating hundreds of living and dead earth gods? Giving birth to dons and mafias?
Yes. This is what we are doing. We know that it is totally wrong but still we are doing.
The worshippers have really made the leaders totally crazy, corrupt and cruel. They consider themselves as powerful gods on earth, have created terrible fear and terror and treat people as slaves. They enjoy this very much. It is the people who spoil them by treating them as gods and powerful ones. Now they are paying heavy price by becoming their slaves and prisoners. They love and worship the leaders and left Allah (The Almighty). This is why they are suffering.
In 1947, Muslims united, struggled and fought for Pakistan. Their slogan was the first Kalima: La Ilaha Illallah (There is no God except Allah). What happened after independence? Then the Kalima helped Muslims create Pakistan and now the same Kalima is being used to fool and exploit Muslims in the name of Allah (The Almighty).
Who is playing with the Kalima and the Muslims? Can we really call Pakistan a Muslim state and ourselves as Muslims? Where are the real Islam, Sharia, Quran and Sunnah? Does Quran, Islam and Allah (The Almighty) order Muslims to treat others badly and make their lives miserable?
We are fed up of nonsense and nuisances. Stop making fun of Kalimas, Islam, Quran and Allah (The Almighty). We are suffering from superiority complex and living in the Paradise of Fools. Admit and accept it. We have been and are inviting the Wrath of The Almighty and preparing to go to HELL.
Is this not hypocrisy and deception? Hum Allah Ko Aik Mantey Hain Par Allah Ki Aik Nahi Mantey (We accept Allah as one but we don’t obey even one of His commands). Yet we proudly claim and call ourselves as Muslims and say that all others will go to hell. How mistaken and misled we are. Only Allah (The Almighty) can protect and guide us. Only He can save us from HELL otherwise we are choosing that place. The picture, widely circulated and emailed, showing a person prostrating before the photo of the late PPP Chairman Benazir Bhutto in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, is a hard slap on our face and tells us as to who will go to hell and why.
Because of illiteracy, hypocrisy and corruption, this happens in most of the Muslim countries, communities and societies. Most of the even highly literates are worst than complete illiterates. They become very cunning, shrewd, corrupt, hypocrites, exploiters and gods on earth and engage themselves in destruction of the country, people, system, society and communities.
Most politicians, intellectuals and Mullas are the extremely dangerous, cunning and corrupt ones. They trap and play with the people and do not allow the good ones to come forward. This is why there is dearth of good people and true leaders.
The print and electronic media is full of shit and suckers. Through propagandas and nonsense comments and presentations, realities and facts are distorted. The images of national leaders and freedom fighters are tarnished. Character assassination is common. Rats and moles are abundant and on payroll of conspirators and enemies. They are mentally sick and making people sick. They are misleading people.
The most important question and point is: Hum Kub Tak Andhay, Goongay Aur Behray Bun Kar Jeetay Rahen Ge (Till how long are we going to live as blind, deaf and dumb). Hamari Haisiyat Kuttay Se Budtar Hogai Hai. Hum Kub Zinda Qaum Bun Kar Dikhain Ge? (We have made our condition worse than dogs. When are we going to proof ourselves as a real nation?).
If we cannot become good Pakistanis and Muslims then we can only say Pakistan Ka Khuda Hi Hafiz (Only The Almighty can now save Pakistan).

We must declare Pakistan as a secular state and allow people of all religions and origins to practice their religions freely and live and work together peacefully. We must allow and protect freedom and rights of all. This is our religious, national and moral duty and responsibility. This is what Huqooqul Ibad (Service to Humanity), a command of God, demands. This is how we can repent and please Allah (The Almighty). It is never too late. Allah is the God of all worlds (Rabbul Aalamin). This is why the message of Quran is universal and not for Muslims only. The character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) proves that he is Rehmatul Lil Aalamin (Blessing for all worlds). What does our character shows and proves us? Just think, think and think. You will definitely shudder.
We are already committing grave sins and mistakes. We must at all cost end the grave sin of leadership worship and stop fooling and exploitation of people in the name of Allah (The Almighty), Quran, Islam and Muslim community. We have to do this to save Pakistan and all Muslims.

  15. Mr.Syed Abid Gillani,

What come to my mind after reading last part of your name is a sign board of so-called Hakims and Pirs who claims to know everything of people suffering and who have been blessed with knowledge of cure whatsoever be there problem might be. I always laugh and make a moments of joys for myself after meeting those people who believe such Hakims and Pirs. For me and millions of other who stand with PTI and Imran Khan, your observation and analysis worth nothing more than that of those Hakims and Pirs knowledge. We also laughed and still enjoying laughing at your analysis of PTI march for Judiciary support.
If you object PTI march for Judiciary support on the ground of number of people attended than listen it is a history that truth and righteous always were in less numbers than those who support evil like you supporting ex-PM Gillani.
Second thing i suspect for your support of Gillani would be he belongs to your clan of Gillanis. Whatsoever the reason might be one thing is for sure that in history Gillani and his supporter will be buried under huge dust of bad names and law breaker.

  16. Salam alkium.dear zafar gillani ap apna blog ka address day dain wasy main nay apkay articals ni parhay.am fakhar abbas shah gillani

  17. Dear Ijaz,

The fact is that many of us now into our forties have gone through similar affiliations and actions in our teens, twenties and thirties and we do not want the same mistakes to be made by you guys now as we made in our times – one of which is getting carried away by emotions. We also know that the youth (age) is passionate (as we were) and takes any kind of criticism in an emotional, judgemental way. For success, emotions have to be harnessed by rational thinking else they take you nowhere. I know the writer for over 12 years now personally and I would humbly suggest not to speak out about anyone (let alone Nawaz Sharif) without confirming what his/ her intent is OR without confirming what the person is about. As they say “Kisi kay khuda ko bhi bura na kaho.”

I have also become a member of PTI and the Insaf Professional Forum but what disappoints me is that Imran himself and PTI at large fail to rise above the petty political style. If PTI has the slogan of change that should be visible in their actions – Jinnah never abused anyone, did he? Our prophet never abused anyone, did he? For now, through its actions (and particularly the language being used), PTI is placing itself among the same lot that we have in our political system – no difference. Even Imran Khan’s bazaari style, at times, forces one to think – is this the change. If the people of Pakistan are looking at Imran as a symbol of change, he and his partyman have to rise above themselves.

Leadership is not easy, it wants change in oneself and requires sacrifice; it absolutely does not lie in using foul language on facebook and other websites against your fellow countrymen. Believe me, this attitude by PTI members (started by Imran himself by petty sloganeering) is just tarnishing the image of the PTI and Imran himself! If this is the change, God have mercy on us!
